Adoption Update!

Well, we are at a stand still until we raise the funds (in full)!  We have to have $30,000 sitting in an account before we can officially be accepted into the program!  What to do...we have a couple options, including raising the funds, but we are anxious to begin.

The frustrating part with our agency is that we can't officially be accepted until the funds are sitting in an account, and then we have to start the wait.  Other agencies allow you to begin the process, and work on raising the funds while your moving along.  You can't apply for grants and such until you have your homestudy completed, and we are finishing the last of it now.  We have to start applying once our home study is finished.  

We will keep truckin.  If we can start the process in a few weeks officially, and it takes about 9-12 months to get a kiddo home, our little girl could be born any day!!! It's a crazy thought, and exciting to think about!

Adoption Fundraiser...SUCCESS!

The fundraiser went FANTASTICALLY!  It was a blast!  I'm not sure how much we raised...yet, but I know we came out way on top!  There are so many people who we need to thank, and appreciate!  I will post more soon, but here is a sneak peak from last night!

Homestudy!

Well...I haven't had time to blog in awhile, because we have been putting together our paperwork for our agency and the homestudy.  It took place tonight.  3 hours, a lot of questions, a lot of paperwork and a FANTASTIC social worker!!!  Jill Kelly is AWESOME!  We are so glad the initial meeting is over!  We are really in the process and I feel like we are accomplishing a lot of stuff right now!

YEAH!  Thanks to everyone who has helped us thus far in the process.  I will post more soon!  I am leaving for Gaylord, MI.

Crack Me Up!

So...Jack didn't want to take a nap today, so I decided to let him lay on Uncle John's bed and watch cartoons until he fell asleep.  My plan worked, he fell asleep!  But when I didn't hear him talking anymore, I went to check on him and he was asleep, and HANGING HALF OFF THE BED!!!!  His feet were at least 3 inches off the ground!  I cracked up!  How could he have fallen asleep like that?  Anyways, thought it was worth sharing:)

The adoption fundraiser is coming along well!  I picked out/designed invitations for it today!  I have the venue reserved, menu made out.  It consists of two types of food...Asian Cuisine and American Fare.  Things are coming together quite well for the fundraiser.  I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Adoption Update

So...we are filling out the formal application for AIAA.  They have accepted our pre-application and we are looking forward to finally feeling like the process is moving forward!  

SAVE THE DATE, NOVEMBER 15th, 2008!!!!!

Did I mention to hold the date November 15th?????!!!!?????  We are going to host a fundraiser, with a silent auction and after party downtown.  I also scored an awesome deal with the Hilton Garden Inn for hotel rooms if anyone wants to make a night of it!  I'm telling you now...SAVE THE DATE!

We are scheduling our homestudy to hopefully have it completed by the end of the month with Jill Atterbury Kelly!  YEAH!  I will keep everyone posted on how that goes.

We also had family photos taken by Jessica Holloway, Captured Blessings Photography, last night and I think they will turn out great!!!  Jack got restless after awhile, but he's only two...guess it comes with the territory:)  Check out Jessica's website for some of her phototgraphy.  http://capturedblessingsphotography.com She rocks!! Anderson Orchard with the Family

Anderson Orchard...who knew that by paying attention to the Llama farm, I would notice a sign for an apple orchard!!!  We have lived 10 minutes away from the orchard for almost 4 years!  Who knew????  Anyways...we went to the orchard with my parents and got some yummy treats!  Jack picked apples (well he also thought it was a good idea to eat them off the ground as well)!  It was a lot of fun, and it is a really cute orchard!

Don't tell the orchard, but daddy and Jack climbed the tree for a moment to get a cute pix!

Grammy thought the orchard was fun, and acted like it was the first orchard she had visited.  Did I mention she brought us a homemade apple pie that was the best ever?!?  Jack has a distorted view of what apples are now:)

Jack's namesake...Papaw.  Jack has his middle name (Lewis).  My brothers all have the same middle name, and Jack has it too!

I'm glad my parents live close and help us out when we need it.  They watch Jack a lot to give us a break!  THANKS!
